WORKSHOPS FOR BUDDING FILM MAKERS WITH A HOLLYWOOD WRITER & PRODUCER IN STOCKTON THIS APRIL
Stockton on Tees born, Nick Rowntree is a successful writer, film producer and actor with almost 20 years experience in the film and TV industry.
Nick started his career in London in 1989 as a professional actor in theatre and television, but it was his interest the whole film making process that saw him take the advice of his mentor Franc Roddam and return to the North East and back into full time education at Cleveland College of Art & Design in Middlesbrough
His student shorts were nominated for The Royal Television Society Best Student Drama in every one of his three years at CCAD ‘The Working Girl’, ‘The Hitch’ and ‘The Only Game in Town’ which was later remade by Scott Mann as Tug of War starring Julie Goodyear and Marsha Thomason.
Nick and Scott began a creative partnership which lasts to this day. They started Shakabuku Films Ltd in 2003 and in that time have made 14 short films which have won or been nominated for many international industry awards. After their very successful stint as main producers for Northern Film and Media’s 2005 Stingers Scheme, Shakabuku Films are now among the most highly sought after film production companies in the region.
In 2007 Scott and Nick began production on their first feature film. Co created and written by Nick and directed by Scott, ‘The Tournament’ is a $6,000,000 film starring Ving Rhames and Robert Carlyle and is due for cinema release worldwide in September 08.
